Echo Zixuan Cai

Echo is an artist who is innovative and brave in her career.

Echo graduated from Peking University with Bachelor’s degree of Art in Beijing, China, 1988. She relocated to Melbourne in 1989.

In 2000 Echo met Hong Fu, a highly respected Chinese-Australian artist. He became her oil painting mentor and tutor over a period of two years starting with Impressionism.  Successfully following her passion, Echo has worked as a professional artist for many years, won multiple awards, organized several solo exhibitions and numerous group shows.

As Echo is a published writer and a columnist for newspapers and magazines, she found appeal in a modern and contemporary style experimenting with presenting some of her literacy creations on the canvas. She continues to work in other art forms those being sculpture, photography, and digital.

In 2012 Echo was diagnosed with Leukemia and was hospitalized for a period of four months. Since courageously regaining her health she has realized “life is precious” and has grown a new enthusiasm for her art.  Her love of Melbourne, its views, activity of the crowds going about their daily business, the colour, energy, and the diverse architecture, has had a large influence on her current work. Her favourite being Brunswick Street is often featured in her work as bright lively pictures.

Echo has worked with multi-art events as a curator and to expand on her installations and performance art. Her talent, bravery and enthusiasm for her work has no bounds.
