Lisa Wang


Born in Dalian, China 1977, Lisa Wang’s passion and aptitude for art was evident from an early age of about five years old. She says “her natural love to draw and paint” is the reason she still paints today.

In 1996, as one of the top two students from Liaoning province, she was selected to study at the Dong Hua University Shanghai where she completed a four  year  Bachelor degree,  majoring  in Fashion Design,  also winning  several prizes for her art in Hong Kong, Taiwan and mainland of China.

In 2002 she left China for New Zealand to open a new chapter in her life, further developing as an artist and respected art teacher. She exhibited widely receiving several prestigious awards for her artworks.

In early 2007 Lisa moved to Australia working as a full-time artist.

In 2008 she completed a series of paintings featuring the Victorian sheepdog trials, which was very well received. The following year she was commissioned by the Geelong Football Club to complete a series of eighteen paintings to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the club. The paintings captured key players, significant moments, and passionate supporters of the club.

The exhibition was displayed at the Geelong Art Gallery. All the paintings are now part of the club’s permanent collection.

Lisa enjoys working with a variety of subjects, portraiture being her favourite.

Her works are known for her unique use of light, confident brushwork, and ability to capture detail.

Lisa has held six solo exhibitions and several group exhibitions in Australia.
